Brian Cole - Artist/Teacher
I have never liked the old adage, “Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach.” The best teachers are the ones that can and are more than proficient in their craft. I am constantly exploring, problem-solving and challenging myself to improve. A good teacher is a life-long learner and never truly ceases to be a student.
My teaching approach focuses on connecting art education to real-world applications including critical and creative thinking, project management and self-discipline to better prepare today’s student entering the workforce.
I earned a BFA in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia and recently completed an MFA in Photography at Savannah College of Art and Design. During the past 20 years I have taught high school classes ranging from communication arts to AP photography, publication layout, design and production, large-scale sculpture projects and intricate jewelry design.
In addition to teaching, I am an experienced administrator, having a dual role as Fine Arts Department Chair responsible for curriculum development and program improvements.
Furthermore, over my career I have earned the respect of my peers and students and can confidently say I have led the growth of a successful visual arts program that is well regarded by parents, administration and the broader school community.
